Summer Series: Medieval Machines: Catapults & Trebuchets
July 31 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
| $25Step back in time and get hands-on with the powerful engineering of the past! In this engaging Summer Series workshop, you’ll explore the mechanics behind medieval siege weapons and build your own miniature catapult to take home.
Learn how trebuchets and catapults use tension, torque, and leverage to launch objects long distances. Then, put your knowledge into action by operating a working trebuchet and constructing your own popsicle stick catapult using simple materials provided.
What You’ll Do:
-
Operate a Trebuchet: Try launching with a functional small-scale trebuchet. Experiment with trajectory, accuracy, and power.
-
Build a Catapult: Use popsicle sticks and rubber bands to make a working catapult and explore the physics of tension and leverage.
-
Launch Challenges: Test your machine’s performance in accuracy and distance-based competitions.
Who Should Attend:
This class is great for kids, teens, adults, families, and anyone with an interest in history, engineering, or hands-on learning. No experience is required—just bring curiosity and creativity!
Materials Provided:
All supplies and tools needed for catapult construction and trebuchet demonstrations are included.
Join us for this exciting fusion of STEM learning and medieval history—an unforgettable way to fire up both minds and machines!
