Littles in the Garden

In today’s culture, children are spending more time inside than they are outside. This is largely due to: technology. The average American child is said to spend 4 to 7 minutes a day in unstructured play outdoors, and over 7 hours a day of screen time. The Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens “Littles in The Garden” series will benefit children by promoting creativity and imagination, teaching responsibility, providing stimulation, getting them moving, and encouraging their curiosity in nature! This series will also educate kids on where their food comes from, how bugs play a crucial role, and how flowers grow.

Where: The Peel Mansion Gardens. We will meet at the porch to start off the day.

When: Each offering will take place from 8:30am-10:30am at the Peel Mansion Gardens.

Cost: $10 per child (parent included)

Introduce your little one to the exciting world of bugs! Bugs may seem pesky, but they have an important job. Let’s change the “eww!” to “wow!”. Join the Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens for a fun 2-hour program in which your child will learn to identify parts of an insect and invertebrates. Your child will also take part in a ladybug release in the vegetable garden at the Peel Mansion and enjoy an interactive bug-based story time before completing their own take home ladybug craft.

Littles in the Veggie Garden – Does your little one know where their food comes from? Join the Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens for a fun 2-hour session in which we will teach your child the different parts of a seed. They will get to take part in planting seeds in our vegetable garden and taste all the different vegetables you can grow! Your child will also take part in an interactive veggie-based story time before creating their own take home vegetable plant.

Littles in the Flower Garden – Flowers are everywhere! Join the Peel Mansion Museum & Heritage Gardens as we teach your little one everything flower power related from planting in our butterfly garden to picking and arranging a bouquet for someone you love! We will have a story time before creating your own take home flower craft.
