Book a Tour at Compton Gardens

Learn about the flowers, animals, and five champion trees we have living in our beautiful garden.

The Compton Gardens & Neil Compton Exhibit Tour gives individuals and groups the chance to explore home and gardens of Dr. Compton, one of the region’s great architectural gems. The house includes an exhibit hall highlighting Dr. Compton and his dedication to the conservation and preservation of the region’s natural beauty.

Group Tours

Group tours provided by The Peel Compton Foundation include a guided tour of the Compton Gardens by a staff member or Master Gardener, access to the Neil Compton Exhibit Center located inside the home of the late Dr. Neil Compton, as well as a dining experience in the house. This complete tour experience can be expected to last two hours.

Availability: Weekdays and weekends

Size: The Peel Compton Foundation can accommodate any size group, big or small.* Please call ahead for groups larger than 10.

Pricing: Breakfast and lunch options range from $20 – $30 per person, tax included.

*Note: a minimum of 8 people are required to receive breakfast or lunch.

Drop-in Tours

Admission to the drop-in, or ‘self-guided’ tour, is free. This tour includes a self-guided experience through the Compton Gardens, as well as access to the Neil Compton Exhibit Center located inside the home of Dr. Compton. These tours normally last 30-45 minutes and food is not provided.

Availability: The exhibit room is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The gardens are open daily from sunrise to sunset, giving visitors the opportunity to explore at their leisure. Our gardens and trails are also connected to the Crystal Bridges Trail System, so there is much to explore!
