Compton Gardens & Arboretum

Oasis in the heart of Downtown Bentonville

Compton Gardens and Arboretum is named after Dr. Neil Compton, an inspirational figure in Northwest Arkansas. Dr. Compton helped to establish the Buffalo River as our nation’s first designated National River. This stunningly peaceful sanctuary of over six acres celebrates the rich history of Ozark horticulture and the conservation efforts of Dr. Neil Compton. Visitors at Compton Gardens will discover woodland creatures, Champion Trees, and native flowers, grasses, and shrubs. Experience the magic of Compton Gardens and Arboretum on foot or on a bike while enjoying nature and appreciating Oz Art NWA installations along the trails. Compton Gardens is always free to visit and is open to the public sunrise to sunset.
